Feature: Just add maser
When a abanded petrol station is no longer just a petrol station. A motel not just a motel. Now they are pieces of art and they're beautiful.
This is Maser- he doesn't just enrich the mundane, he brings it to life, and literally makes it jump up and down.
Demanding attention with his bold colour palette and hard lined graphic patterns- they have a language of their own - he seamlessly blends old with the new and all of a sudden they are talking to you. And yup that just rhymed!
Everything seems simple yet complex at the same time, complimentary yet rebellious. The beauty is there's nothing you need to do or know. Just be willing to participate and open to a new way of seeing the world...could you argue in the face of such vibrance!?
From Maser's hometown in Dublin, Ireland to London, throughout Europe and the USA, you can find his signature style murals, installations and maxims across walls, buildings, museums, you name it. Often contrasting to the scenes in which they are painted, he masterfully invites us to shift the perspective.
This becomes particularly apparent when you place Maser's designs into broken and war torn environments. That is the case when Maser donated his designs (amongst other world class talent) to The Liberia Project - run by the arts organisation Apartial, who tailor community art programs in some of the poorest regions of the world.
For The Liberia Project they worked with a local group of surfers in West Africa to recreate a number of artists elaborate pieces. Apartial's aim "is to inspire the next generation of creatives to take control of their future," covering the war torn cracks with a vibrant new hope...I think it does the trick!
Reminding us 'U ARE ALIVE' it doesn't seem to matter where or what canvas he paints, the result is always the same - a new found sense of proud ownership whilst you, you get MASERISED!
